Dental implant
is an aesthetically appealing and functional replacement for missing tooth.
An immediate dental implant can be secured to the jawbone and immediately capped
with natural-looking prosthetic teeth for a comfortable, confident smile. Surgically
placed below the gums over a series of appointments, implants fuse to the jawbone
and serve as a base for individual replacement teeth, bridges or a denture.
Dental implants offer stability because they fuse to your bone. Integration
of the dental implants into your jaw also helps your replacement teeth feel
more natural and some people also find the secure fit more comfortable than
conventional substitutes.
Naturally, the
effects of tooth loss vary and depend on what have been lost. Losing a crown
means losing the visible part of your tooth and this may affect your confidence.
However, if you lose the root as well, you have lost the unseen part of your
tooth and although this may not affect you aesthetically, it is undoubtedly
the most important part of the tooth. The root anchors the tooth to your jawbone,
acting as a foundation for the crown. Without the root, the bone around the
missing tooth will gradually recede causing the remaining teeth to shift. If
this is allowed to continue chewing will become more and more difficult.
In cases where
bone condition and density are favorable, dental implants can now be embedded
after tooth extraction. Such techniques being referred to as immediate implants,
one-day implants, single day implants or same day implants. Permanent or temporary
prosthetics will be loaded immediately during the same treatment visit when
the dental implants are surgical placed. The immediate loading dental implants
shortens the treatment time and makes it possible to give you an esthetic appearance
upon leaving a dental clinic.

Following placement of the artificial roots in
the jaw, the bone may be sore and the surrounding gums tender and swollen. Patients
are, however, able to go about their normal daily activities a day after surgery
avoiding any rigorous physical exercises or activities.
For your immediate loaded implants, the same postcare instructions apply as
that of conventional dental implants. Dental implants require the same care
as real teeth, including brushing, flossing, and regular dental check-ups.
